My social action project was on recycling and teaching learners about the importance of recycling. The social action project was not entirely successful. Learners did participate in cleaning the bins and putting up posters, however there was not a lot of materials that were being recycled. I can say that the social action project was not entirely effective. Learners were taught about the importance of recycling but they di not get get a lot of practice at the school on how to recycle. The service learning taught me that when i want something to be done i must not wait for another person's support or approval , i must go ahead and implement the project just as i have planned to. It also taught me that not everyone will support you and assist you when you need help so its important to rely on yourself as well as working hard for the tings that you want. Professionally i have learned that when you have an idea it is important to do in- depth planning so that when the next Pearson hears about your project they are able to understand every detail that will be done. It also taught me patience as i had to recruit learners to participate as well as finding the right time to implement my social action project . The project is very beneficial as recycling is something that is done on a daily basis and does not cost the school anything. This project is sustainable as it will be done for many years to come. It runs itself and it can be implemented at home.

Creating awareness: Learners were teaching each other about the importance of recycling. I tasked the grade 7 learners to be in charge of the younger learners during break time and when they see them trowing paper on the floor they must tell them to pick it up and trow it in the bins.

Educate: This project teaches learners the importance of recycling, why they need to recycle and how it will benefit their health. It is important for learners to learn this skill as they live in an environment that is filled with litter.

Unite: The teacher assistance were assisting learners with this project in terms of making them pick up litter and having them empty out the bins during lessons.

Parent and community invovement: There was not alot of involvement from the parents but what learners learned in the classroom they will surely carry with them to their communities and teach other young people about recycling.

I love how honest and self-aware you are, this is a great skill to have as self- reflection is important in our field. Thank you for sharing your experience, I am sure that learners enjoyed the project much more than you think they did.

I believe your social action project to be a great initiative and believe that learners did learn a lot. I agree with the support from other teachers' issue, and I love how passionate and dedicated were in making the project work without having the necessary support. It shows the type of teacher you will become, one that is fearless, dedicated, and passionate, which for me are the signs of a great teacher…
